Picken's Preview 8/20

On Saturday, August 20th, the XC Raiders took on their first 5K of the season and raced against some of the top teams in Georgia! Despite the rainy conditions and tight first loop of the race, the Raiders executed their racing strategies well and made sure to make the most of their race!  

Team Race Outcomes 

The Varsity Boy’s started the race morning out solid with a 12th place finish out of 31 teams with Seniors, Spencer Etheridge and Jack Brown, coming in as the first two for the team. The Varsity Girl’s raced their way to securing 10th place out of 28 teams with Juniors, Caroline Steiger and Katelyn Rager, coming in as the first two for the team. The JV boys followed the Varsity boys placing with racing to 13th out of 21 teams, and the JV girls raced to secure 12th out of 21 teams.  

Personal Records Crushed 

A few of the returning XC Raiders marked their start of the 2022 season with crushing of their old 5K PR’s. 

The XC Raiders enjoyed racing on a different course with great competition and challenging themselves to show up strong no matter the conditions! There were sightings of multiple great chomps, surges, and pack running with all Raiders cheering throughout the races. The XC Raiders are excited for what is to come this season as Picken’s Preview was a solid starting point to build on for the 2022 XC season.
